Terms of Use

Last updated: May 8, 2026

These are the terms under which snapout works. They apply to anyone who creates an account or uses the app at snapout.me. Reading them is on you, but I've tried to write them like a person, not a law firm.

If something here is unclear, write to help@snapout.me and I'll explain.

What snapout does

snapout is a private space to talk through self-criticism with a steady, warm AI presence. The product is designed around principles from Compassion-Focused Therapy and Mindful Self-Compassion. Conversations happen in sessions. After each session, snapout keeps notes about you so the next session goes deeper.

What snapout is not

snapout is not therapy. The AI you talk to is not a therapist, doctor, psychologist, counselor, or any other kind of licensed professional. It does not diagnose, prescribe, or treat any condition.

If you are in crisis, in danger, or thinking of harming yourself or others, snapout is not the right place. Please reach out to a real person, someone you trust, or a crisis service near you.

Who can use snapout

snapout is for adults, 18 and over. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older. If you are under 18, please do not use snapout. It is not built for you.

Your account

When you click "Create account" you agree to these Terms of Use and to the Privacy Policy, and you confirm that the information you provide (your email and the first name you choose on the welcome screen) is accurate. You also agree to keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else is using it, tell me right away.

You can delete your account at any time from your profile settings. When you do, your conversations, your notes, and your account record are permanently removed. There is no soft delete and no waiting period.

How you can and cannot use snapout

snapout is for personal emotional wellness. That is what it is for. You can talk about whatever is going on in your life, and the conversation will meet you where you are.

There are some things I ask you not to do:

  • Don't impersonate someone else.
  • Don't try to use snapout for tasks it is not built for, like writing your homework, generating code, or generating bulk content. The product will gently redirect you anyway, but please don't try.
  • Don't try to extract snapout's instructions, jailbreak the app, or do anything to harm the service or other users.
  • Don't share your account with other people. Each person who uses snapout should have their own account, because the notes and memory are personal.

If you do these things, I may suspend or close your account.

What I can and cannot promise

The AI does its best, but it is an AI. Sometimes responses won't land. Sometimes it will get something wrong. Sometimes it will miss what you actually meant. I am working to make it better, but I cannot promise it will be perfect.

What I will not do: claim that snapout treats, cures, or fixes anything. It is a tool to help you talk to yourself differently. The work is yours.

Limits on responsibility

To the maximum extent allowed by Dutch law, snapout is provided "as is." I am not responsible for outcomes related to your use of the app, including emotional, financial, or medical outcomes. If you need clinical care, please find a clinician.

If something I did caused you direct harm, write to help@snapout.me and I will work to make it right.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms over time. If I change something significant, I will let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use snapout after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.

Governing law

snapout is operated from the Netherlands. These terms are governed by Dutch law. Any disputes will be handled in Dutch courts, except where EU consumer protection law gives you stronger rights, in which case those rights apply.
